Ilary Blasi’s Romantic Dream by Ermanno Scervino. A Contemporary Interpretation of Iconic Elegance

A romantic vision lies at the heart of the custom-made wedding gown created by Ermanno Scervino for Ilary Blasi.

The inspiration takes shape at the Terrazza dell’Infinito in Ravello, an enchanting place suspended between sky and sea. Described by American writer Gore Vidal as “the most beautiful view in the world”, the celebrated natural terrace becomes the ideal setting for a gown that seems to belong to a dream.

The corset takes centre stage. Defined by a deep Victorian point, it becomes the boldest element of the creation. On one hand, it evokes the imagery of the grand weddings of the past; on the other, its generous V plunging neckline interrupts the composed elegance of traditional construction, renewing its meaning in a statement of style. The silhouette is sculpted to accentuate the waist, creating an intense contrast between the rigor of the structure and the delicacy of the lace.

The same motif continues upwards, embracing the base of the neck and following the natural contours of the lace. As on the sleeves, a scalloped effect rests delicately against the skin.

The skirt, wide and sumptuous, is crafted from silk duchesse. Luminous and compact, the fabric follows the figure before opening into generous volumes, giving the gown a regal presence. The purity of its shape recalls the magnificence of the dream gowns worn by the great icons of the past, while the couture construction expresses a sophisticated and timeless femininity.

Supporting the fullness of the skirt is an internal structure of underskirts, enhanced with ruffle detailing. The result is a soft, airy movement that adds depth to the creation and makes the gown appear, with every step, to float effortlessly in the air.

The veil, a gesture of absolute poetry, is crafted from tulle and embellished along the edges with the same rebrodé lace, hand-applied to the corset.

Completing the total look are the décolleté pumps, custom-made for the occasion. They continue the gown’s language of elegance, revealing the foot through the same rebrodé lace.

And so, between the sea and the sky of Ravello, the wedding gown becomes the embodiment of a romantic dream: Ilary’s dream.
